As a new addition to Frameweld, I love learning new things. As a content developer, I enjoy that it is my job to watch and organize video, as well as rich media, content for our clients. I find that I learn a lot about what moderators are speaking about while syncing up transcripts, PowerPoint slides, and creating chapters within each video. Once I even joked with a co-worker “do we get honorary degrees or certificates of completion [for the content]?”
I especially enjoy the work for PaTTAN. I can remember when I was growing up, my teachers used some of the tools and methods that are discussed in their panels. Not only am I learning, I’m also remembering my childhood school experiences. Through the educational content I have been learning a lot about special education, curriculum, and methods. To hear about the experiences that these families had with their educational system was enlightening and inspirational.
I also enjoy that Frameweld has a state of the art web-portal which allows me to work from almost anywhere so as to be efficient when not in the office space in Long Island City. I also enjoy coming into the office, which is in a new wonderfully sun-drenched, casual work space in the LIC Arts building. The space also also houses galleries, studios and a lovely little coffee shop. I think it is a great location because I’m a big fan of the arts and there is an emerging art scene with lots of art spaces popping up around MoMA’s PS1 contemporary art museum. It is also convenient for me to get to the office since there are so many subway lines that meet just a few blocks away.
I came to Frameweld after opening a Comic Book store in Antigua Guatemala, where my business partner is currently running the business. I miss my life down there and hope to continue working for Frameweld from abroad one day. I am able to build my own schedule and work from anywhere I am still able to have a hand in my business. I could not imagine a better fit for my life and schedule right now.
