NASDSE Learning Port

project overview

The National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE), the Office of Special Education (OSEP), and Frameweld joined forces to solve the age old problem of how to train more people on a smaller budget in less time. NASDSE and OSEP are leading education agencies who don’t just want 508 compliant solutions, they need solutions that are truly friendly to users with a wide range of disabilities.

This lead to the conception of Learning Port, a customized, searchable knowledge base of courses and training resources available online. This fully accessible library of professional development material is available to the public with hundreds of resources that are just a click away. Accessibility is focused on with custom controls, automated image tagging, and carefully designed interfaces.

Anyone can submit a resource for review. The custom content management system encourages organic growth of the library based on user submitted resources, expert review, and use of metadata to maximize the benefits of the controlled vocabulary.

This site provides a repository of online courses that can be used and customized to meet the needs of educators. A universal language comes to life in a sortable, refinable, and searchable interface that is extremely scalable. NASDSE, OSEP, Frameweld, and Learning Port users continue to collaborate to keep the credible and most current resources available.
